Metatarsalgia
  • Persistent pain in the metatarsal area or
    ball of the foot.
  • May be caused by arthritis, trauma, hard surfaces or improper footwear.

Pedorthists commonly treat
Metatarsalgia with:

Planter Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
  • Severe pain at the heel or along the arch of the foot, especially first thing in the morning.
  • A common, chronic condition which requires controlling orthotics and stable footwear to maintain foot position and reduce tension on the injured tissue.

Arthritis

  • Continual pain and degeneration of the joints caused by arthritis are aggravated by standing and walking.
  • Clients benefit tremendously from additional-depth footwear and footwear modifications that align, cushion and stabilize the feet.

Diabetes

  • Decreased blood circulation and a loss of sensation in their feet, which makes them high-risk clients.
  • Particularly susceptible to skin breakdown and ulceration. It is critical that they have optimally fitting footwear and accommodative orthoses.

Alignment

  • Athletes, walkers, hikers and those who are on their feet at work should be aware of the importance of foot alignment as it relates to the rest of their body.
  • Improper alignment of the foot may lead to problems over time with knees, hips, back, muscle strain and injury.
  • Tony and Linda help to prevent problems through education and the use of custom orthotics and supportive footwear.
